London, Day 4: P&G House, British Museum, P&G House

The pub downstairs had live music until nearly midnight last night. I stayed up to enjoy it (from the comfort of our bed), but it made for a late start today. We headed first to the P& G House for lunch.

We spent the afternoon at the British Museum, which owns six million items. Deaner captured four of the objects in the photo below-the front and reverse of the gold medals for the Olympic and Paraolympic games. Although these are modern items, the bulk of the collection is from ancient cultures–Egypt, Assyria, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Persia. I wish I could spend a couple of weeks there. They also had a special Olympic” tour, highlighting items in the collection that relate to the ancient Olympic games.

From the museum we headed back to the P&G House for cocktails and dinner, and came home on the train.

The rowing team is more or less sequestered, so we haven’t seen Megan or her teammates since we got here, but it sounds like they are ready for tomorrow’s repechage–four of the six boats will advance to the final. Go USA!
